Chicago Shares is a not-for-profit corporation whose mission is to provide a way for individuals, agencies, religious communities, corporations and retail merchants to collaborate in helping hungry people through a food voucher system set up and administered by Chicago shares.

Goals
     

 

 

To provide an effective and safe means by which individuals can respond to requests for money for food from individuals on the street.
To provide access to food for hungry people
To enlist vendors of food and of services useful to people on the street as redeemers of vouchers
To involve religious communities, agencies and corporations as sellers of vouchers
To provide an opportunity for volunteers to be engaged in helping hungry people and to provide support for those volunteers
To raise awareness of the needs of hungry people and of the existence of hunger in our society
 
     
Operating Principle:
To contribute any extra funds from unredeemed vouchers to organizations whose mission is to feed hungry people.
