Here's how the program works:

1. Purchase $5 books of 5 CHICAGO SHARES vouchers at participating allocation units or by mail using this printable form.

2. Keep vouchers handy and give them to the needy people who ask for money in the station or on the street.

3. Vouchers may be redeemed for food and other basic necessities - but not for alcohol or tobacco, at participating merchants displaying bright pink CHICAGO SHARES signs.

4. CHICAGO SHARES pays cash directly to merchants for all vouchers redeemed.
