2019 Grant Awards
For more than 25 years, Chicago Shares has provided a means for generous citizens and visitors to help the hungry poor of Chicago through a unique voucher program. However, a percentage of the Chicago Shares vouchers that are given to needy people are never redeemed. Therefore, from time to time, the Board of Directors of Chicago Shares accepts applications for grants as a way to distribute the funds from these un-redeemed Shares. The grants are given to Chicago area not-for-profit organizations that have a complementary mission to Chicago Shares of helping the needy, hungry and homeless.
For 2019, the Chicago Shares Board of Directors has approved grants totaling $22,000 to the following area not-for-profits:
